I didn’t start making an effort until many years into my Parkinsons, I was in denial.
When I did, I set about changing three things:
D – DIET
E – ENTERTAINMENT
W – WORK
My DEW points. I decided that if I was going to Live to be 100 Years Old – with Parkinsons, and avoiding Dementia, I needed to take care of body, mind and spirit.
DIET
In eight months, by November 2020, I had lost 22lb (10kg) !!!
Better still, I went for a Full Body check up – a 360 degree top to toe health screening – and to the amazement of my doctors, I had lost all the fat around my liver.
I am going to share a lot of stuff about taking control of your PHYSICAL life but the dark shadow that haunts me more even than the Parkinsons…
… it’s the MASSIVE FEAR OF DEMENTIA.
ENTERTAINMENT
Parkinsons has taken a number of life pleasures from me so I’m determined to make the most of what it has given me – and yes, it has given me new pleasures. I’ll share with you another day, but my top ten lists highlight some of these.
Finally…
WORK
I needed to keep my brain healthy. I set off to find out how. I’ll share more in later posts but a key activity for me was to carry on working. I even set up a this website!
