Let me introduce you to Brett Harvey. Like me, he is a proud Cornishman. Like me, he has Parkinson’s but with early onset complications.
Unlike me, his hands shake, which is a disaster for him, because he is a cameraman and film maker.
Action Mode on the iPhone was introduced to me by Brett. It has changed his life and saved his career.
Take a look at this for the difference!!!
Apple has created “No Frame Missed” which features Brett and his family among others. The clip above is from it, the whole thing is only a couple of minutes and well worth watching regardless of Parkinson’s.
This is for everybody, not just people with Parkinson’s.
If you’ve tried to film your kids playing sport, or like me, my rugby teams, its always wobbly and out of focus. Action mode on the iPhone changes all of that.
Apple turned up on his doorstep with rather more photographers than he was expecting – not enough coffee cups to go round!
See what they did below…
As a tool for filming its great.
Giving a man his life back is another thing completely.

Brett has now written a feature film called Fullstops not Tadpoles which describes the life of a guy with Parkinson’s. Brett intends to film this in Cornwall, he will be the first person to produce a film on Parkinson’s filmed by a guy with Parkinson’s – it’ll be unbelievable.
My great friend Guy Deacon was the subject of a documentary Running on Empty, whereas the film maker was Rob Hayward. He did a great job but Brett is taking this one step further.
Brett has already produced an 8 minute short film called Hand. This sounds like a horror movie, but it isn’t. It’s a fascinating insight into a life lived with a tremor.
Not horror, not drama, just life.
If you are interested in his next project, you can learn about this in his briefing below. From Brett himself:
“I am determined to do a worlds first and be the first filmmaker with Parkinson’s to make a feature film about Parkinson’s.
We are currently seeking funds and if anyone is interested in supporting they can get in touch through info@o-region.co.uk”
My view is that this is well worth supporting as a Cornish enterprise and from a young man with talent.
