This Friday’s Update is all about…
I saw Michael J Fox on this fairly old CNN interview recently. It really got to me…
He seemed much worse off than me with his tremors and shakes and yet he epitomised optimism in the face of adversity.
For those who don’t know, he was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinsons at the age of 29. He has now, at 61, gone on to raise $200M through his Michael J Fox Parkinsons Foundation for Research. Motto:
Here. Until Parkinson’s isn’t.
His approach resonates with me. He wants to be around to see a cure, and is active and persistent in living a full life. Including going back to acting and TV presenting, with huge success!! Including Grammy awards and Emmy nominations.
He deserves a knighthood !!
I feel I am a lot luckier than he is. I am no longer on an apomorphine pump – I am walking better – see me below, heading off to fish early last Sunday.
I put my relatively good form down to regular physio. You can see a couple of other examples in my Top Ten Videos of triathletes and body builders with Parkinsons. Plus really impressive results by managing my “gut biome” – ie. following a diet recommended by, among others, world leading authority Dr Steven Gundry.
For the uninitiated, a good first introduction to Gundry’s wisdom is here:
More on him later…

Walking better than me Dicky! Brilliant to see.
Well done Dicky, almost running there.
Hope you had a good session with the tuna, there are a few coming in over here, not up to Kenya though, great memories.
