For this is my Cornwall… and this is my home.
Words that Cornish Pirates fans will know well as its part of the anthem that we sing at the end of our home matches.
As I gear up to pass on the Pirates baton, I am reminded of just how beautiful my homeland is. I’ll still return, I have long standing friendships there and I am always delighted to sit in the stands at the Mennaye and cheer on the team.
With Christmas in a few days, and all my kids and grandkids around me, I am reminded of how important it is to value your heritage and your family, and to live a life that gives a stronger future to others.
I have been blessed to live and work in two fantastic lands, Cornwall and Kenya, and be supported by the people of each. I have a mantra “look after people on the way up because you’ll meet them on the way down”.
As Parkinson’s continues to affect my daily activities, I am hugely grateful to everyone who has indeed stepped up of their own free will to help me.
My thanks to Anthony Copping and his team at Binumi who took this footage while I was down in Cornwall with them in September. I hope you enjoy it.
And finally a very Merry Christmas to you all.
